Baby in good health after being ripped from womb
CBC TV, December 21, 2004, Written by CBC News Online staff
KANSAS CITY, MO. [U.S.A.]- A four-day-old girl who was cut from her mother's womb is doing well according to hospital officials in Topeka, Kan.
"She's in remarkably good condition for what has happened to her," said Tami Motley of the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. Motley did not say when the baby, Victoria Stinnett, might go home.

Meanwhile, the woman charged with strangling the mother and then taking the infant from her womb is expected to appear Monday in court in Kansas City, Mo. Authorities say Lisa Montgomery, 36, has confessed to strangling Bobbie Jo Stinnett. She is charged with kidnapping resulting in death.
Police say Montgomery contacted Stinnett, 23, by e-mail under the guise she was interested in buying dogs from Stinnett. Montgomery drove from her hometown in Kansas on Dec. 16 to Stinnett's town of Skidmore, Mo.
Stinnett, who was eight months pregnant, was killed in her home while her husband was at work. Stinnett's mother found her daughter's body late Thursday afternoon and police tracked down the baby a day later.
Police say Montgomery, a mother of two, lied to family and friends about being pregnant. She met her husband later on Dec. 16 at a fast-food restaurant in Kansas with Stinnett's baby claiming she had gone into labour while shopping.
