Female Teacher charged with sexual assault
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 17 /CNW/ - Investigators with the Special Victims Unit have arrested and charged a 36 year-old Mississauga teacher in relation to alleged inappropriate conduct and contact with a student.
It is alleged that the 17 year-old victim, who is a Mississauga resident, was taught by the accused at Streetsville Secondary School. During October of 2006, it was discovered the accused had corresponded on-line with the victim, with e-mails containing sexually explicit content.
It is also alleged that during October 2006, the victim and the accused met in Mississauga, and at that time a sexual assault occurred.
Investigators began to look into the allegations, which resulted in the arrest of the teacher on Friday, October 13, 2006, at the school.
Charged with Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Assault is Leslie MERLINO, 36 years, of Mississauga. She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 20, 2006. She also must abide by a number of strict conditions while awaiting her court appearance.
